Patsy "Pat" Simmons, born in Bedford, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and beloved member of the community.
A long-time member of Victory Baptist Church, Pat was known for singing in the choir and participating on several church committees. She also served as a trustee for the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home. Her faith and community spirit were woven into the fabric of her life. Pat was not only a talented quilter but also a passionate shopper. Many cherished memories were made shopping with her sister and going on their annual quilting retreats. During their life together, Pat and Gene enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. Pat also found joy in playing the piano and organ. Pat will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by:
Sister - Virginia "Ginny" Coleman (William "Bill")
Nieces - Kensie Coleman Seamster (David) and Great-nephew, William “Liam” Seamster, Sarah Coleman (Phillip Murphree)
Brother-in-law - Bill Simmons (Theresa) and family.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth Abbott, and her late husband, D. Gene Simmons, with whom she had 54 wonderful years of marriage.
Visitation for Pat will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Chris Noland, Bro. Chuck Groover and Bro. Todd Capps. Music will be performed by Jason Harlin. Interment will be held privately at Nashville National Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
