Patsy Blanch Tatham, 92, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on January 25, 1933, in Beards Fork, West Virginia. She peacefully departed this world on November 8, 2025, at Autumn Care of Waynesville after battling an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clayton Gene Tatham, and her parents, William Dudley and Reba Estelle Dooley Canterbury. Patsy is preceded in death by, her infant sibling, as well as her brothers Charles, Cecil, and Howell, and sister Corky.
Her deep sense of commitment and service to others inspired Patsy to enlist in the United States Air Force as a Private Senior Clerk-Typist. She proudly began her service on June 7, 1951, and was honorably discharged on February 18, 1953. Her dedication and contributions to our nation will forever be remembered and appreciated.
Patsy's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith and dedication to her family and community. As a loving woman whose spirit was as warm as the sunshine, she touched countless lives. Her love for her fellowman led to a career of caring as an ICU LPN at Haywood Regional Medical Center, where she shared her compassionate heart with those in need. Before pursuing her nursing career, Patsy devoted herself to her family as a homemaker until her children reached their teenage years, showcasing her incredible strength and dedication.
Education was a path that Patsy embraced later in life, bringing to fruition her dream of nursing. Her well-worn Bible, always open on her table, serves as a testament to her devout faith and her ardent pursuit of spiritual growth. She was actively involved in her church and took part in many community endeavors, embodying the true spirit of giving with her heart, mind, and soul.
In her leisure time, Patsy found joy in the earth around her, nurturing her flower and vegetable garden. She delighted in the beauty of nature and cherished every moment spent outdoors. Family was the cornerstone of her life; she never missed an event involving her grandchildren, fostering memories that will be treasured for generations.
Patsy is survived by her loving children, Linda Jean Slechter (Larry) of Hendersonville, Bergin Lee Tatham (Karen) of Waynesville, and Marshall Dudley Tatham (Kellie) of Lester. She was a proud grandmother to Nikki O'Driscoll (Brian), Clint Tatham (Shelly), and Clay Tatham (Lauren), and a beloved great-grandmother to Brixton, Brighton, and Gracie. In addition, she leaves behind her dear brother, Norton Canterbury (Mary) of Mount Hope WV, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, work family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Patsy Blanch Tatham's legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we gather our memories of her gentle spirit, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul eternally cherished.
