Patsy Taylor Richards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peeples Funeral Home and Crematory - Chatsworth on Dec. 24, 2024.
Mrs. Patsy "Pat" Ruth Taylor Richards, age 88, of Chatsworth passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Mrs. Richards was born July 8, 1936, in Cleveland, TN. After graduating from Murray County High School, she attended Tennessee Temple University. She went on to spend much of her life working with children both as a paraprofessional in the Murray County School System and as a Sunday School Teacher. She loved her work and her joyful and creative nature made her especially well-suited to it.
Mrs. Richards was a lifelong follower of the love of Jesus and her Baptist faith was evident to all those she encountered. An avid reader, she was rarely without a book. Mrs. Richards also loved cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers (but only the women's basketball team). Most of all, she loved her family and became an enthusiastic Facebooker to keep up with them both near and far. She will be remembered fondly for her spunky, fun-loving personality.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bobby" Richards; parents, Icie and Scott Taylor; brothers, George, Terrell, Earl, and Tim Taylor; sister, JoAnn Carter; daughter, Julia Cochran; grandson, Joseph "Joey" Richards; and granddaughter, Jana Smith.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Anne Richards of Chesapeake, VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Rocky Ponders of St. Simons Island, GA, Jan and Duane Smith of Chatsworth, GA, and Ricky Cochran of Liberty, SC; grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca and Divine Ofori-Amankwah, Melissa and Jamie Walden, Josh Cochran, Taylor and Jasmine Richards, Hannah and Jack Feist, and Jacob and Anna Smith; great-grandchildren, Cameron Cochran, Autumn Richards, Jackson Walden, and Rocky Feist; great-great-grandchild Aaliyah Cochran; and several dear extended family members. Mrs. Richards was especially thankful for her wonderful neighbors including Bobby and Rhonda Thompson who always kept an eye on her.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Richards will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home (208 South Third Avenue, Chatsworth, GA). The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Mrs. Richards always said that she would enjoy her flowers in life, and we kindly ask that gifts may be made to the Imagination Library to share the joy of reading with children (https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help them continue providing lifesaving care (https://www.stjude.org/donate/) in lieu of flowers.
Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mrs. Patsy "Pat" Ruth Taylor Richards.
