Patsy Ruth Goodwin Thomas

Patsy Ruth Goodwin Thomas, 95, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Patsy was born on May 22, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, to Thelma Dyess Goodwin and J.D. Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Thomas (1985), after 36 years of marriage; her son, Randy Thomas (2022); and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Thomas; daughter-in-law, Karen Thomas; her grandsons, Scott Thomas; Kyle Thomas and his wife, Emily; and Jacob Thomas and his husband, Eric Rocha. She is also survived by honorary grandsons, Christopher Jones and Matthew Hohne, as well as dear friends Becky Hackenson and Helen Knox.

Patsy dedicated 30 years of service to Spring Branch Independent School District. She had a lifelong love of music and singing, participating in school and church choirs throughout her life. She played piano in the junior high school orchestra, where she met her violinist husband, the love of her life. While living in Fort Worth, the couple performed together in numerous churches as violinist and accompanist.

After moving to Houston in 1960, Patsy sang with the Houston Choral Society for 20 years and was a member of the choir at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church for 33 years. She also belonged to three Sweet Adelines choruses: Port of Harmony, Houston Horizon, and Brazos Crossing.

Patsy touched the lives of family and friends through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, and celebrating life's special moments. She rarely missed her grandsons' activities, attending sporting events, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts functions, band concerts, and halftime performances.

Her faith, her music, and her devotion to family were the foundation of a life well lived, and she will be dearly remembered.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 7705. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Scott Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Eric Rocha, Christopher Jones, and Matthew Hohne.
