Patsy Helm Thompson

Patsy Jane Helm Thompson, 87, of Madison, passed away peacefully at the Madison County Nursing Home on January 28, 2025. She was blessed with a rich life of family and dedicated friends.
Patsy was born on August 16, 1937, in Jackson, Mississippi to Ed and Flavia Helm. She graduated from Central High School, where she met her future husband, William (Billy) I. S. Thompson. Patsy and Billy married on January 26, 1957, and had two children, Ellen (Irby) Stewart and Billy Thompson, Jr. Patsy and Billy were happily married for 37 years before Billy passed away suddenly on November 24, 1993. Over the years Patsy's family grew to include five grandchildren, Chase (Anna) of Lyons, CO, Will (Jennifer) of Flora, Isabella, Reese and Myles. She was affectionally called Gigi by her great grandchildren; Liam, Mac, Cora and Ellie.
Patsy and Billy enjoyed their life together, as well as their life with family and friends. Through Billy's love for aviation they were able to travel to many fun places. After losing Billy at such a young age, Patsy had to start a new life without him. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her time at Twin Lakes Baptist Church with many friends of all ages, where she volunteered for Wednesday night suppers and Vacation Bible School. In addition, she regularly attended yoga classes, watched cooking shows so she could learn to cook healthy meals, worked in her yard on her beautiful plants, and chatted for hours on the phone with her many friends.
Patsy's last few years were spent in the sweetest, most loving care of the Madison County Nursing Home. She loved the staff and residents there and that love was returned to her by all that she came in contact with. Her entire family was blessed by all the warm, caring and dedicated workers. We will miss her smile and her sweet spirit but we know she is with Jesus and all those who have gone before her.
Patsy is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister Judy Hardin (Bobby) and was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 3, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Madison, MS with services to follow at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church, 673 Lake Cavalier Road, Madison, MS 39110.
