Patty Rae Brown, 76, of Conway, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Hospice of the Hills in Harrison.
She was born August 10, 1949, at St. Anthony, Idaho, to Harry Lew and Mary Estella Griggs Bolles. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1967 at Memphis, Tennessee. Patty worked for many years as a special education teacher in Calico Rock, finding joy in helping those in need learn. She married the love of her life, Derrall Brown, on May 25, 2005, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Patty loved photography, painting, and spending time with her animals and plants. She had a remarkable green thumb and a special gift for nurturing life in all its forms. She had a fondness for fishing and being outdoors, and loved reading science fiction novels, as well as books about dragons and the tales that surrounded them. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was also a world-traveling ACFA cat show judge, something she took great pride in. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Kathi Schafer and Peggy McDowell.
Survivors include her husband and best friend, Derrall Brown, of Conway; three daughters, Jennifer Nichols-Wright of Harrison, Amanda Brown of Plattsburgh, New York, and Robin Cassidy of Los Angeles, California; three grandsons, Jack Whalen, of Plattsburgh, Evan Whalen, of Plattsburgh, and Alexander Trudeau, of New York City, New York; three granddaughters, Brittany Nichols, of Little Rock, Ryleigh Whalen, of Plattsburgh, and Olivia Trudeau, of New York City; one great-granddaughter, Nichola Hinn, of Little Rock; one brother, Vaughn (Cathy) Bolles, of Collierville, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Ken McDowell, of Marble Falls; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. A special thanks goes to Summer Potter, and Michael and Leslie Corley for all of their help and support during Mrs. Brown's stay at the hospital and hospice house.
Services will be announced at a later date under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
