Patty Cardell Lanier

Patty Cardell Lanier, 69, of Metter, Ga passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at her home.
Patty was born on October 23, 1954, in Kissimmee, Fl to her parents Leon Cardell and Dean Wilson Trapnell. Around the age of five she and her family moved to the Metter area and she has been part of the Metter community since. Patty graduated with one of the first nursing classes to ever graduate from Georgia Southern University School of Nursing, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She was a very devoted nurse and took great care of her patients. She spent many years devoted to working at Candler County Hospital as well as Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, Ga. She has worn many hats throughout her career, she has been a Director of Nursing as well as working in hospital administration, she even spent time as a hospice and traveling nurse. For a time in her career, she worked at Ogeechee Technical College teaching others about nursing. Caring for people is who she was, and it was what she was known for. Everyone that knew her knew her as "Ma Patty." She was a giving person, and her door was always open to anyone that needed her. She was an amazing friend and mother. More than anything she loved being a G-Ma to her grandbabies, Jax, Chadlee, and Charlee. Patty loved the Lord and she dedicated her time to being a youth leader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Barry Lanier.
Left to continue her memory are her daughters, Morgan Lanier and Marlee (Chad) Turner; brother, Glenn (Sandra) Cardell; step-mother, Faye Cardell; step-brothers, Andy (Nita) Calloway, Scott Calloway, and Brett (April) Calloway; grandchildren, Jax, Chadlee, and Charlee Turner; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11:30 in the morning at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 o'clock in the morning until 11 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter.
