Paul Beechner Obituary

Paul Fredrick Beechner Jr., age 83, of Brookline Station passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at Marshfield Care Center after a brief illness. Paul was born the son of Paul and Evie Beechner on May 24, 1941, in Excelsior Springs.
Paul was preceded in death by the love of his life Joann (Murphy) Beechner. They were united in marriage on Dec. 22, 1962. Prior to Joann's death in April of 2023, they celebrated their 60th
Anniversary. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister Janet Ostrowski; mother and father-in-law Earl and Pauline Murphy and beloved dog Tidbit. He is survived by daughter Jo; brother and sister-in-law Loren and Betsy Beechner, sister-in-law Deanne Murphy; nephews Jamie Ostrowski, John Ostrowski and wife Kathleen, Jared Ostrowski and wife Jill, niece Jennifer Beechner Coker and husband Cole, niece Julie Beechner Rurak and husband Matt, nephew Charles Murphy Jr. and wife Dawn, niece Kaye Highfill; 10 great-nieces and -nephews; seven great-great-nieces and -nephews; many friends, and friends, who was like
family, Mike Davis, and wife Donna.
Growing up, Paul attended the Methodist church in La Feria, Texas. When he and Joann returned to Missouri in 1964, they attended First Baptist Church in Bolivar, where he was baptized and served many years as a deacon. Since Joann's passing, he attended North Point Church in Springfield, where he recently served as greeter. Today his faith is sight and is in the loving arms of his Savior.
Paul retired from Sam's Club in 2005. He loved woodworking, gardening, and reading. Many times, you could find him on the deck reading or in the shop studying for BSF. While their health permitted, Paul and Joann would volunteer with their Sunday School class serving dinner at Victory Mission including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Paul loved woodworking and could fix almost anything. After retirement, he assisted his friend, Mike Davis, in starting his business, Home Matters. Together they built, restored, and remodeled everything from store shelves, to basements, and to houses. They spent several years building and crafting environments for families to relax and enjoy for years to come.
Visitation will be at noon on Friday, Nov. 1, with the Celebration of Life services following at 1 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. Jeremy Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Bolivar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Springfield Dream Center or a non-profit of their choice.
