Paul A. Blattner

Paul Albert Blattner, age 94, of Parnell, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 12, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Marianna Blattner; and his brothers, Tony, Ernie, Rudy, and Franz "Frank" Blattner.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Terry A. Blattner; his children, Robin (Greg) DeLeeuw, Paul W. (Nancy) Blattner, Franz (Tina) Blattner, Heidi (Tom) Brouwer, and Tony (Jill) Blattner; his cherished grandchildren, Rachel, John, Mellissa, Jennifer, Lauren, Paul, Jonathan, Tara, Eryn, Nick, Jordan, Haley, Brie, Nathan, Bethany, and Collin; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Blattner; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in Journalism and Forestry. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Following his service, Paul built a distinguished career at The Grand Rapids Press, where he worked as a sports reporter and later as a foreign news editor.
A devoted Michigan State sports enthusiast, Paul remained a loyal Spartan fan throughout his life. Sixty-five years ago, he and his brother, Frank, planted the roots of what would become his greatest passion-Twin Bee Orchard. While journalism was his profession, the orchard was his heart. He took immense pride in nurturing it and sharing its fruits with family and friends.
Paul was an avid reader with a deep love for history and a lifelong drive to learn new skills and pursue meaningful projects. He treasured his Austrian heritage and lovingly carried forward cherished Christmas traditions, instilling them in his children and grandchildren so that his family would always remain connected to their roots.
Paul's life was marked by dedication-to his faith, his family, his work, and his land. His legacy lives on in the traditions he passed down, the orchard he cultivated, and the family who loved him dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Ave. NE, Ada, Michigan 49331, with visitation one hour prior. Fr. Tom Cavera presiding.
