Paul Charron Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Merrimac – Paul Richard Charron, 79, of Merrimac, widower of Marie E. (Maynard) Charron, passed away at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Henry B. and Mary Margaret (Sargent) Charron. He attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1964. He then continued his education earning his bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina, class of 1968. Mr. Charron was a beloved and respected high school teacher from 1968 until his retirement in 2004. He began his career at Haverhill High School and Haverhill Trade School and spent the rest of his tenure at Whittier Regional High School, teaching U.S. history and psychology and inspiring countless students.

During his college years in Columbia, he grew fond of South Carolina and upon his retirement, he and his wife, Marie, would spend winters at their condo in North Myrtle Beach. They also enjoyed traveling the world, going on cruises, and sharing new experiences together.

In recent years, Mr. Charron found great joy in simple pleasures – local adventures with his son and daughter, weekly meals together, and lively card games that brought both laughter and connection. He also volunteered with the Merrimac Senior Center, delivering meals to fellow seniors in the community. He was an avid follower of politics and college basketball, was unrivaled in games of trivia, and took great pleasure in curating playlists that reflected his wide-ranging musical tastes.

Mr. Charron is survived by his son, Jeremy Charron, of Portsmouth, NH; his daughter, Allison Charron, of Salem, NH; his sister, Kathleen "Kay" Poole, of Haverhill; and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Charron.

The Charron family extends their deepest gratitude to Richard and Joan Willets and Sharon Donatelle for their kindness, generosity, and unwavering support in recent weeks. Their care and presence have meant so much during this time.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Saturday, November 15 from10:00AM until 11:30AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network via his tribute page: https://secure.PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org/site/TR/DIY/DIYTeamraisers?pg=personal&px=3906539&fr_id=2443
