Paul Buxton Christenbury, 96 years young, of Davidson, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Paul was born January 6, 1929, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, to the late Wood and Sue Christenbury. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Nancy Bost Christenbury and Frances Rogers Christenbury; and sisters, Jenna Sue Taylor and Jo Ann Austin Jones.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Army. He had a successful banking career in Augusta, Stockbridge, Carrollton, and Conyers, Georgia. He was a member of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, Charlotte.

Uncle Paul (Big Paul) has gone home to be with his Savior. As a small child, Paul picked cotton on the family farm. From that beginning, he became a bank president. Paul made his own pathway in life. Even with all that success, he never forgot where he came from. He was such an amazing Biblical scholar, and truly a brilliant mind in finance. His mind was still very sharp at 96. Paul had a great laugh, an awesome, deep, strong voice and a gentle spirit. Heaven gained a truly special man. Our hearts are sad, but we will see him again. If we can all go to sleep on earth and wake up in Heaven, what a blessing that will be.

Survivors include brother, Kenneth Lee Christenbury and wife, Suggie; brother, Gerald Davis Christenbury and wife, Joyce; brother, Silas Ted Christenbury; brother, Edward Maxwell Christenbury and wife, Peggy; sister, Sandra Kay Thomas and husband Darrell; brothers-in-law, James Walter “Burr” Taylor and Ernie Jones; 18 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Paul was also survived by his extended family, Michael Rogers and wife, Judy; David Rogers and wife, Jo Ellen; and Lu Rogers.

The Christenbury family would like to thank Paul's neighbor, Pat; and Visiting Angels.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 10:45 am, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, 1600 W. Mallard Creek, Church Rd., Charlotte. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church Prayer Quilt Fund.
