Paul Ronald Clark

Paul “Ron” Clark, age 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of July 3, 2025 at Harmony of Marshalltown surrounded by his family.

Memorial services for Ron will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the First Methodist Church in Marshalltown with pastor Jeff Kodis officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Ron’s name may be directed to Hospice Compassus or to First Methodist Church. Paul Ronald Clark was born August 17, 1936 in Winterset, Iowa. He was the fifth of six children born to Paul and Naomi (Howell) Clark. Ron remained in Winterset alongside his family through 10th grade when they relocated to Marshalltown, Iowa. Ron finished his education at Marshalltown High School graduating in the Class of 1955.

On October 16, 1955, Ron was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Sanders at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. The two remained in Marshalltown building their home and raising three boys, Robert, William and Brian. Ron made a career working for Lennox industries in Marshalltown. A career that he would work on for 41 years until the time of his retirement in 1999. After retirement there were many years that Ron and Pat spent as snow birds in Arizona.

Outside of work, Ron remained active being a member of First Methodist Church, The Moose Lodge in Marshalltown, American Legion Golf Course, The Horseshoe Association where he would play every Saturday and the U.A.W. Local 893 of Marshalltown. Additionally in his free time Ron enjoyed playing card games with a specialty in 500 and Pepper, various bowling leagues, playing golf, and coaching his children in little league baseball.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Patricia Clark; his children, Robert (Diane) Clark, William (Mary) Clark and Brian Clark; grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Clark, Doug (Randi) Clark, Brent (Heather) Clark, Jennifer (Dale) Sopa, Bethany (Dave) Gridley, Heidi Clark and Kristi Clark; 14 great-grandchildren and one sister, Gwen Clark. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Naomi Clark; his siblings, Lovisa Flynn, Carroll Clark, Jack Clark and Jerry Clark; and his mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Catherine Sanders.
