Paul J. Comeau of Melrose passed away at home on Oct. 14, 2005 after a lengthy illness. He was 89 years old. Born and raised in Malden, Paul graduated from Malden High School. He moved to Melrose in 1940 and lived on Grove St. for a short period of time and then on Burnett St. for over 48 years. Paul was the devoted husband of Margaret V. (Higgins) Comeau with whom they shared 47 years of marriage. Mr. Comeau worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad as a Locamotion Engineer assigned to the Portland Division for 48 years. He was the oldest member of the Melrose Elks and past president of the Franco-American Club of Everett. Loving father of Eileen M. Shepard & her husband David of ME, Kathleen V. Comeau of Melrose, Patrick J. Comeau & his wife Donna of WA, Philippe L. Comeau & his wife Donna of Peabody & Dolores Comeau of Billerica & her late husband Paul Robert Comeau. Loving friend of Jenesta M. Larkin. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. Oct. 18th, at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Mon. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Assoc., 720 Harrison Ave. Boston, MA 02118.
