Paul D'Aprile Obituary

BRISTOL

Paul J. D'Aprile, 92, devoted husband of Joanne (Bachman) for 72 years, and a life-time resident of Bristol and Forestville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and was called to the Lord on October 2nd, 2025. He was born on September 14, 1933, in Bristol and was the son of the late Paul and Rose D'Aprile. Paul was a member of the Church of St. Matthew in Forestville and was a former member of St. Matthew's Men's Retreat League and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Paul graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School in New Britain. He was employed for 38 years as a R&D toolmaker by the WireMold Company of West Hartford, and then he worked as a general machinist for the Constructive Workshop of New Britain. Following his retirement, Paul developed an interest in clocks and volunteered for many years at the American Clock and Watch Museum. He had a curiosity about the workings of City Hall and was informally known as the "Mayor of Frederick St" because of his untiring efforts to represent his neighbors in upholding their civil rights. Paul was also the go-to fix-it man for a myriad of household repairs not only for his family but his community. He was a member of the Senior Citizen's Center, Friends of the Seniors, the Forestville Village Association and the Inland Wetlands Committee. Paul was a gentle soul and known for his humor, generosity and strength. He dedicated his life to his family and embraced each day with grace and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. His heart was open and always ready to listen, help, or simply be present. His love for his family was constant and unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed. Paul will be remembered as a kind and humble man who never sought the spotlight but touched the lives of all who knew him and gave a smile to all those he met. He will be deeply missed by all, especially the love of his life, Joanne. Paul's family is eternally grateful for the love, friendship and support of those who walked alongside him during his life. He is survived by five daughters: Linda Ritchie; Lori (Sumedh) Mehta; Mary Ann D'Aprile; Judy D'Aprile Haydt; Janett D'Aprile; seven grandchildren, the highlights of his life: Aneesha (Alex) Mehta Harris, Ben Mehta, Emma (Tyler) Mehta Rivera; Jazmyne (Kyle) Hall, Michael (Shawna) Crespo; Jennifer Ngetich; Eve Haydt and Laney and Max Loukoumis; four great-grandchildren, Luke Ngetich, Miles Mehta Harris, Remi Mehta Harris, Kyla Mehta Harris; his sister Rose-Ann Girard and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Paul, and his brother, Vito. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.. at St. Matthew's Church in Forestville with the interment following at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory can be made to American Clock and Watch Museum, Bristol, CT or to St. Matthew School, Forestville, CT. Paul was a great friend of my Dad and me also.
A really great talented man.A town treasure.
He will be greatly missed.
May the good Lord bless and keep you my old friend.

Yesterday

I had the pleasure of serving with Paul on the Inland Wetlands Commission for many years. He was devoted to protecting the Frederick Street area-before, during, and long after his time on the commission. Always engaged, often a good-natured `thorn,´ and forever community-minded.
