Paul Douglas Davidson, 58, of Eastover, South Carolina passed away March 5, 2025, at Columbia VA Health Care System, Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on July 30, 1966 in Paris, Texas to the late Mary (Thomas) Barker.
Paul was from the small town of Deport, Texas, one of 6 children, son of the late Mary Jo Barker and a very loving Step-Father Dave Barker. Loved nature, animals and flowers. He loved his yard, you would always find him in the yard on his riding lawn mower tending to the grass, the trees and all the plants that made it beautiful. Paul was dedicated and devoted to his country, serving faithfully and honorably for well for over 20 faithful and honorable years. Following his retirement, he continued his government service as a civilian environmental health technician for 20 years. He was excellent at his job and was admired for his attention to detail and care for the health of the people and soldiers of Fort Jackson.
Paul was born with a servant's heart and was fearless in protecting those around him. He always wanted to help someone in need and tirelessly gave all of himself for others to the point of his own undoing. Paul risked his own life while assisting in the rescue of a truck driver trapped inside his burning vehicle. This was a pattern he kept throughout his whole life as he aided in many accidents on the side of the road. Paul always ran into danger to save others.
He will be so missed by so many people, and he touched so many lives throughout his life. We will all forever be changed for knowing him and for being loved by him.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Alicia Davidson. They were married on 10/10/10. Sisters: Shelia Davidson of Deport Texas, Kristy Sparks of Deport Texas; Brothers: Joe Lee Davidson, Jr., (Margaret) of Taft Texas, Vincent Davidson of Corpus Christi, Texas and Michael Smith also of Corpus Christi. Paul also leaves behind nieces and nephews, Zachary Sparks, Joe Davidson III, and Angel Davidson. There are also many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins left to treasure his memory.
He was preceded in death by his faithful dog Lacey, who was the ultimate caregiver.
Interment services will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors being rendered. Date and time to be announced by the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to The Big Red Barn Retreat, 8024 Winnsboro Road, Blythewood SC, 29016, or at thebigredbarnretreat.org. Just click the donate button.
