Paul Shofner Dean Jr.

Dean, Paul S., Jr. - age 88, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Paul was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Concord. He retired as an accountant for EG & G Ortec in Oak Ridge over 25 years ago. Paul volunteered with his church at Vacation Bible School and Mission of Hope. He loved collecting coins, postcards, matchbook covers and many other things. At one point Paul built houses and ran his own construction company with his wife. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by those that knew him. Paul was prececed in death by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Janice Dean Murphy; parents, Paul and Priscilla; brother, David. He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Dean Slockett; grandchildren, Robert Dean and Cassidy Marie Slockett, and Tyler, Brittney (Alex) Perry, and Brooke Murphy; brother, Jerry (Brenda) Dean. Paul's family wanted to take the time to thank Rain Forest Assisted Living and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the excellent care and compassion he recieved. The family will recieve friends on Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann with the funeral following at 6:00. Family and friends will then gather at 12:45 pm for a 1:00 pm interment service on Friday at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
