Paul E. Downey

Paul E. Downey, 92, of Luckey and formerly of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at Wood Haven Healthcare in Bowling Green. On August 31, 1933 he was born in Toledo, OH. On May 1, 1976, he married Joyce Bahnsen in Toledo, OH. Paul and Joyce raised 6 children and celebrated nearly 43 years of marriage together until Joyce's passing in 2019.
Paul worked as a Millwright for Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF) for 30 years. He worked another 8 years during his retirement years for Truck & Van Land. He was a former member at First St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oregon, prior to their closing where he served as past President of council, was a member of the choir, and property chairman. His membership was then transferred to St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge. He was a dedicated sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Eastwood Eagles. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, attending all his kids & grandkids events. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Chris, often gathering with family and friends at Chris's house by the pool. Above all else, Paul's greatest love was his family. He was also well known for enjoying a cocktail or two, always in good company.
Paul, is survived by his children: David (Emma) Downey of CA, Bruce Downey of Haskins, Todd Eaton of CA, and Tonya Eaton-Orth of VA. 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and brother, Edward (Leslie) Hughlet. In addition to his wife Joyce, he was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen (Chas) Williams, son, Larry (Beth) Downey, brothers: Arthur Downey, and Lee Hughlet. sisters: Louise Davis, Ruth Armstrong, and Lois Hughlet.
Friends and Family will be received 4-7 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 110 Main St., Luckey. Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5520 Fremont Pike, Stony Ridge, OH. Officiating will be Pastor Cindy Ritter. Interment will be in Lake Twp. Cemetery, Millbury.
