Paul Fullem Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - West Military Dr. on Jan. 27, 2026.
Paul M. Fullem, 77
June 13, 1948 - December 30, 2025
Paul Michael Fullem passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, of natural causes arising from worsening respiratory complications.
Paul was born to parents Francis Donald Fullem (Utica) and Josephine Fullem (née Furgal of New York Mills) and grew up in Utica, New York.
He was educated at St. Francis DeSales School and Notre Dame High School, graduating in the Class of '66. He served in the US Army National Guard as an Infantryman. Paul was employed by the Associated Transport Trucking Company, Inc. throughout the 1970s. He transitioned to United Technologies @ Carrier Corporation where he spent most of his career until he moved to San Antonio in 2000 to be with his future wife, Carey. He found employment at Northside ISD in transportation and eventually worked at the University of Texas San Antonio Transportation Division until his retirement in 2020.
He had many avid hobbies, but most importantly, a lifelong love for the game of golf. He shared this passion as often as possible with his few closest friends: Buddy Lindsey, Jim Strahan and Jim Greene.
He adored the Dachshund dog breed and doting over them. He loved reading encyclopedias, watching documentaries, and gadgets-if there was app for it, he was like a moth to a flame. The rest of his attention was saved for all things firearms, ballistics, and gun proficiency at the range.
In his retirement, he was a permanent fixture of the neighborhood and could be seen walking his dog Seamus up and down the street or getting his mail. His attention to detail helped him find anything suspicious or out of place in the neighborhood. He enjoyed his sense of obligation to the neighbors.
Paul had been happily remarried and was preceded by his wife of 19 years, Carey Fullem (née Giles) on June 4, 2019.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Wendy S. Fullem; his daughters Jessica Ratcli e, Rachael Fullem and son, Paul W. Fullem; three grandchildren-Bergette Herrera, Liam Fullem, and Wolfgang Fullem-Marketos; and one great-grandson Emmett Herrera. He also considered his neighbors Martha and Glenn Barton as family. Finally, Paul is survived by Seamus, his beloved Dachshund, who has found a new loving home in the same neighborhood.
