Paul Georgy Obituary

Visit the Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Crystal Lake website to view the full obituary.

In the end, it was his heart. The doctors said it was weak. But to anyone who crossed his path, they would believe the opposite. Paul’s heart was his compass with service to others as his North Star.

Paul’s happy place was in nature and on a farm. From an early age, he loved working with animals, tending to fields, and driving big trucks. Over the years, these passions took on new looks, but he was still a farm kid at heart. He earned a degree from Southern Illinois University where he studied Animal Husbandry and participated in groundbreaking research involving fertility treatments and cattle.

Shortly after college, he married his soulmate and moved north. Professionally, he created a career where he could talk about crops and other commodities on a daily basis. In 1981, Paul founded Allendale, Inc., a commodity trading and research firm, where his clients, employees, and counterparts quickly resembled family. Just as people took a chance on him, he never hesitated to take a chance on others - freely sharing mentorship, advice, and support.

When the time came for him to retire, Paul selflessly poured his heart into his church, community, and service. In addition to helping his wife deliver meals to the homebound and helping neighbors cut down trees, he humbly took on the role of President at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. He found purpose in helping families who were dealt a difficult hand and found delight in driving the big refrigerated CL Food Pantry truck to collect donated goods from local businesses. Throughout his life, he set lofty goals and expectations, and gave all his heart to see things to completion, cutting zero corners and acting with honesty and integrity.

Of all of his life’s successes and accomplishments, he was most proud of his 52-year marriage and his family. Paul viewed his wife as an extension of himself, leaning on her and their faith through the good times and bad. He was incredibly proud of his children and their spouses and amazed by his grandkids.

In the end, after his heart was given to so many, it was his heart that couldn’t give anymore. He will be so deeply missed.

Paul will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Marilyn M., nee Kampwerth; children, John Paul (Abigail) Georgy of Crystal Lake, IL; Steven Joseph (Kristin) Georgy of Crystal Lake, IL; Laura Anne (Nathan) Moore of Boulder, CO; grandchildren, Jake Michael, Logan Ann and Luke Paul Georgy, Reagan Therese and Olivia Susan Georgy, Charles Hill Moore; his sisters, Patricia (Duane) Poettker and Agnes (Chuck) Strieker; his sister-in-law, Tina Georgy; and by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Georgy.

A visitation for Paul will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A mass will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 10 AM St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. All are invited to go directly to church.
