~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following was lovingly written by
Paul's wife, Linda.
Paul Gettel was born at home
in Rocky Ford, Colorado,
May 6th 1942,
because he wanted to be close to his mother.
His parents were Irvan and Blanche Gettel.
Two years later Paul became
big brother to sister, Eileen,
and two years beyond that to brother, Melvin.
He went through school and graduated
with the class of 1960,
"ain't that nifty!"
Paul moved to Aurora, Colorado
after graduation.
In 1961 close friend Bill Cole encouraged
and recommended Paul to be hired
at Continental Airlines in Denver.
Paul married Vivian Isabel in 1962.
Their first son, Mike, was born in 1963.
Continental transferred Paul
to Los Angeles in 1964.
Again, he was transferred,
this time to Odessa, Texas,
and they added son, Daniel, in 1965.
In 1967 Paul was transferred
to Tulsa Oklahoma.
Vivian passed away in March 1968.
Paul married Linda, and added daughter,
Deborah, in 1970.
Paul was transferred to Kansas City in 1971.
They added daughter, Lois,
and Paul was transferred back to LA in 1972.
In 1975, he transferred back to Denver
and lived in Aurora for 19 years.
They added son, Tim, to the family in 1976.
They adopted son, Phillip, in 1984.
When the new airport was built
he was sent to Orlando, Florida.
Later, he also worked in Newark, New Jersey;
Houston, Texas; and finally,
he was transferred back to Orlando
where he retired with 42 years of service.
In the years since there have been
11 grandchildren
and 18 great-grandchildren
(one more coming in August).
Paul loved music and played guitar,
trombone, harmonica, piano,
and tried many other instruments.
He loved the Lord and church.
His ministry was a helps ministry- preaching,
teaching, bus ministry,
anything that was needed;
like teaching teen girls in
vacation bible school last minute,
and holding nursing home services
in Aurora for several years.
When you remember Paul,
remember a man who loved God
and found the reality of serving Him.
Remember his honesty, gentleness,
and his love for all mankind,
music, airplanes, cars, cruise ships,
nature, the moon, sunsets, scenic pictures...
and on and on!
