Paul L Goble

Paul L. Goble, a cherished father, brother, Pop's and friend, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024, at the Elderwood at Tioga Nursing Home, Waverly, NY. Born on August 13, 1943, in Waverly, Paul's life was a testament to the power of kindness, humor, and hard work.
Paul's journey began as a proud graduate of Waverly High School, where he forged lifelong friendships. His academic pursuits were temporarily set aside when he was called to serve his country in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968. After his honorable discharge, Paul returned home, where he would later become a dedicated Systems Analyst for IBM Owego and Bank of America.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Paul was a devoted member of the Waverly United Methodist Church. His community was important to him and he played an active role in the preservation of the Waverly Cemeteries, ensuring that the history and memories of the community were honored and maintained.
Paul's love for the outdoors was undeniable. He found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of nature - whether it was a leisurely walk, tending to his home, or enjoying a round of golf. His culinary skills were renowned among family and friends, particularly his apple pie, peanut butter fudge, and pancakes, which were always served with a side of laughter and love.
Family was the cornerstone of Paul's life. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and guidance through his daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Ben Norton, Jennifer and Chris Jacobs, and Kristen and Chris Brewster. His role as "Pops" to his grandchildren, Ada Sleutel, Bowie Sleutel, and Kira Jacobs, was one he embraced with every ounce of affection. Paul's siblings, Stan Goble, Lois Douglas, and Shirley Tyrrell, along with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Rose Eiklor, sister-in-law Lois Gowan, and his favorite "out-law" Shirley Goble, will fondly remember his loving and friendly spirit. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Wilbert and Ruth (Maslin) Goble, and his wife, Leslie "Paula" Goble.
The caring staff at Elderwood Nursing Home held a special place in Pop's heart, as they provided him with comfort and companionship during his final years. His face would light up with a childlike joy at the sight of a jelly-filled donut, a small pleasure that meant the world to him. Paul's great sense of humor and his ability to encourage and cheer on his girls were among his most endearing qualities. He was a man who was always ready to lend a hand, share a joke, and make the most of every moment. His legacy is one of love, friendship, and the simple, yet profound, ability to enjoy life.
