It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandpa, Paul Gonzalo, 82, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in Paramus, New Jersey. Paul was a kind and loving gentle soul with a generous heart, a mischievous spirit and a great sense of humor. He loved to tell stories, to laugh, and loved music and disco dancing. He was a gifted painter and artist, and was a fierce judo competitor and teacher who earned a third-degree black belt and touched the lives of all those he taught and played with. Paul was a talented carpenter and worked for the Port Authority of NY & NJ for 37 years before retiring. He is also a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, having served proudly in the Army National Guard from 1963-1969 as a Specialist Fourth Class in Troop B 1st Squadron, 101st Cav in New York, activated to active duty for 6 months in 1964.
Paul is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Gonzalo and Gigi Cuckler, son-in-law, William Cuckler, grandson, Derek Paul Gonzalo, and his sister Diane Gonzalo. He was preceded to Heaven by his parents, Thomas Gonzalo, Sr. and Alma Santos, and his brothers, Thomas Gonzalo and Richard Gonzalo.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 7, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM at the same location. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park, 750 Passaic Avenue, Clifton, NJ.
