John Francis Toolen

John Francis Toolen, 86, of Brick, NJ formerly of Toms River, Waldwick and Hackensack NJ, peacefully passed on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Prior to retirement, John was proud to have enjoyed a 46-year career with PSE&G starting as a lineman and working his way up to System Operation Manager.

John is predeceased by his beloved wife Margot Ann Toolen (nee Fernald, 2009).

John was a devoted father to Lisa Ann Toolen and John Timothy Toolen and his wife Elizabeth Ann. He was also the loving grandfather of Julia Elizabeth, Devin Claire, and John Owen Toolen. He leaves behind his loving siblings Peter, Genevieve, and Penelope.

Throughout his life, John could always be counted on to go out of his way to help others and was quick with a joke and a smile. John had a passion for golf, but his one true love, Margot and the greater Toolen family at large were always the center of his being and the inspiration for his actions.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus, NJ. Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, August 25, 2025, at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. All to gather at the cemetery office.
