Paul Gustafson Obituary

Paul Albert Gustafson
October 15, 1955 - February 4, 2026
Paul Albert Gustafson, aged 70, of San Antonio, Tx, entered God's heavenly kingdom on February 4, 2026, in San Antonio, Tx. Born on October 15, 1955, Paul was a devoted family man and a respected leader in the food service industry for 50 years. He led Ace Mart Restaurant Supply as President for many years. Paul was known as a gentle giant and for his kind, generous, caring nature. His unique brand of humor brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered. He was always a giver and never a taker. He was deeply committed to his family, friends, and employees and took immense pride and joy in his work at Ace Mart, a family business he nurtured alongside his father, Norman Gustafson, his sister, Norma Gustafson, and his brother, Carl Gustafson. Under his leadership, Ace Mart flourished and he was proud to pass the torch to his son, Jonathan Gustafson, his daughter, Stephanie Gustafson Bean, his son, Cody Gustafson, and his son, Grant Gustafson. Paul took great pride that the company remained in the family as it transitioned to the third generation. A graduate of Oliver Wendell Holmes High School, Paul's passion extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying softball, bowling and golf. He was also dedicated to coaching his children in various sports and was an active supporter and coach for Special Olympics for over 25 years. In recent years he was an enthusiastic fan and supporter of all his grandchildren's various sporting events. A man of quiet faith, Paul was a longtime member of Community Bible Church, where his Celebration of Life service will be held on February 16, 2026, at 11:00 am. The church is located at 2477 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judie Bock Gustafson; children, Stephanie Gustafson Bean (Sam), Jonathan Gustafson (Kim), Cody Gustafson, Grant Gustafson (Farrin); grandchildren, Cooper and Presley Gustafson, Tanner and Piper Bean, Audrey and Brody Gustafson; as well as his brother, Carl Gustafson (Christine) sister, Norma Gustafson Galvan (David); Jamie Menne, sister-in-law, Brady Bock (Vicky), David Bock, Manny Vela, Leon Garcia, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and too many dear friends to count. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Albert Gustafson and Francis Decker Gustafson. Judie and the family would like to thank everyone that has reached out during this difficult time, especially, the "Beekeepers", the "Grace Girls", "Girlfriends and God", loving friends and the food service industry leaders. May God bless you all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to organizations that are dedicated to the special needs community, a cause dear to Paul's heart.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8

My condolences to the Gustafson family. I've long admired my brother's circle of friends, which Paul was part of. Great business/family man, all round good guy. Best memories watching the Acemart softball team play ball each week.

Marilyn and I send our condolences to Paul's family. He was always gracious every time we met, a find business man that treated us at MARSI Systems fairly. With his mentors, Gus, and mom, he HAD to be a wonderful father, husband and Christian. God blessed us with a life well lived and a departure too soon. Praise God for men like this...

My heart is really broken. Paul was such a good friend and I loved working with him. We had a great run together and he treated me with so much respect and appreciation and it was mutual. He always was there for me as a friend and was so happy for me when I met Jen. I was so honored when I was able to take him on a cruise in Cleveland. I just can't say enough as to how outstanding of a person he was and how wonderful he was to be around. I will always love him and am so glad I was able to catch up with him, Judy and his children at FEDA this past year. As they say in my religion, "May his memory be a blessing "
