Paul Hageman, age 93 of
Decorah, IA, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Ossian Care Center in Ossian, IA surrounded by family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 Maryville St.,
Calmar, IA with Rev. Henry Huber presiding. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery with full military rites.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Helms Funeral Home – French Chapel, 202 South Washington St.,
Calmar, IA.
There will be no visitation on Wednesday morning before the Mass.

Paul was born on August 13, 1931, on the family farm near
Calmar, Iowa to Joseph & Elizabeth (Kriener) Hageman. Paul was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School in
Calmar, Iowa.
Paul enlisted in the Army February 25, 1953 thru February 23, 1955 – 6th Armored Cavalry Regiment H Company. Received National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). Paul served as a proud member of the Halverson-Giesen American Legion Post for over 60 years.
He met the love of his life, Colleen Wagner, during a dance at the Inwood Ballroom in Spillville, Iowa. The two united in marriage on October 7, 1959. To this union five children were born. They raised their family east of Calmar on the Hageman Family Farm where he raised hogs, beef cattle and crops. Paul was very proud of the different types of Hosta's he had planted around the house.
Paul loved to attended sporting events at South Winneshiek, and even had a reserved spot at the football field for Friday nights. He was a devoted member of St Aloysius Catholic Church and American Legion. Paul enjoyed helping at the Greenhouse in Decorah to deliver flowers for Jim and Linda Lukes.
Paul is survived by his four children Ann Marie (Ken) Kirkestue, Monona IA, Anna Mae (Dave) Smith, Monona IA, Scott (former wife Noreen Hageman) Hageman, Monona IA, Joel (Kendra) Hageman, Lanesboro MN. Twelve grandchildren: Kyle (Vicky) Kirkestue, West Union IA, Sara (Jim) Bovia, Pickney MI, Shannon Kirkestue, Channahon IL, Ashley Smith, Coralville IA, Melissa Hageman, Luana IA, Morgan Hageman, Cedar Rapids IA, Ambur (Drew) Peterson Marion IA, Cody (Michala) Hageman, Yuma AZ, Macauley (Sara) Hageman, Ossian IA, Blake Hageman, Lanesboro, MN, Elizabeth Hageman, Lanesboro MN. Five great grandchildren, Bryce Kirkestue, Chole Bovia, Tatum Hageman, and Brooklyn Hageman. Brother-in-Law Edward Mikota, Ossian, IA. Nephews Justin (Melissa) Wagner, Marion IA, Jordan (Laura) Wagner, Des Moines IA.
Paul was proceeded in death by his wife Colleen (Wagner) Hageman, August 10, 2023, parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Kriener) Hageman, Siblings Martha Mikota, Catherine (Leo) Ott, Rose (Linus) Tupy, Conrad (Gertrude) Hageman, Arnold (Lucy) Hageman and Anna (Edward) Ondrashek, Father and Mother-in-Law Roman and Gladys Wagner, Brother-in- Law Keith Wagner, Son Kevin Hageman, Grandson Scott Hageman, Jr. (infancy), Granddaughter Tami Hageman.
