Paul Harris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home on Jan. 31, 2026.
Dateline: Halfmoon, NY

Paul "Ed" Harris, Jr., age 74, died on January 26, 2026, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Ed was born on June 23, 1951, in Urbana, IL and was the son of the late Paul E. Harris, Sr. and Beverly (Alt) Harris.

Ed attended Jamesville-Dewitt high school and following graduation, completed his associates degree at Onondaga Community College. Ed enlisted in the United States Army, eventually becoming a drill sergeant and serving honorably until his discharge in 1973. After completing his military service, he built a successful career in the insurance industry, working with several companies primarily in underwriting roles that lead them to relocating to Clifton Park, NY.

During his senior year of high school, while working at Arby's, he met a special customer named Marjorie-and he knew immediately she was the one. They married on September 9, 1972, and began a 53 year journey together. Along the way, they welcomed two children, Heidi and Michael, and he devoted himself wholeheartedly to making family his number one priority.

Ed spent his free time cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, camping, and enjoying music-especially his favorite artists, Fleetwood Mac and Alan Jackson. Above all, his greatest joy in life was spending quality time with his family and extended family. He was blessed with four granddaughters and was their biggest fan, proudly attending every dance recital, school play, and special event. Whether it was family vacations to Myrtle Beach or holiday gatherings at home, he cherished every moment shared with the people he loved most.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marjorie E. (Ammann) Harris; his wonderful children, Heidi (Brian) Halme and Michael (Katy) Harris; his adored grandchildren, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Lyla and his dear siblings, Linda (Jim) Roche, Karl (Lynn) Harris and Sue (Davey) Tardif.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Nelson United Methodist Church, 3333 US-20, Cazenovia, NY 13035. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon.

Interment will be in Nelson Rural Cemetery, Cazenovia, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
