Paul Harton Obituary

Paul J. Harton, 84, of Washington, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, in Paramount Senior Living in McMurray. He was born May 23, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late Clifford and Sara Espey Harton. On March 20, 1960, he married Sandra L. Elias, who survives. Paul was a graduate of Washington High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959, serving until 1962. He worked in the steel industry at the Jessop / Allegheny Ludlum plant, retiring in 2009 as a superintendent at the Plate Mill. Paul was a member of the Fairhill Manor Christian Church as well as the Masonic Temple Lodge #164. He loved golf, watching sports, and spending time with his family; he took the greatest delight in mowing his lawn, always smiling, as his friends and neighbors can attest. In addition to his beloved wife, Paul is survived by his son, Dr. Paul J. "Butch" (Susie) Harton, Jr., of Acworth, Ga.; and his daughter, Dedra (Scott) Rantovich of Venetia; grandchildren, Ali Rose Harton, Sam (Stephane Courtey) Harton, Kara Rantovich, and Kendall Rantovich; sister-in-law, Delores Harton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Clifford Harton, Jr., Norma Jean (Paul) Binder, Peggy Woodring, and Ronald Harton. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, in the Fairhill Manor Christian Church, 351 Montgomery Avenue, Washington, with the Reverend Chris Stillwell officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Cemetery, with Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post 175 Honor Guard.
