Paul Helm Obituary

Paul Eric Helm, a beloved figure known for his vivacious spirit and dedication to his family, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Nashville, TN. Born on April 25, 1972, in Muncie, IN, Eric lived a life full of laughter, love, and community service.

Professionally, Eric was a self-employed general contractor whose skills extended far beyond the ordinary. With a deep passion for building and renovating, he contributed his expertise to Habitat for Humanity, helping to establish a new division called ReConstruct, which aimed to renovate older homes within existing neighborhoods.

Eric was not only a master in his trade; he had a unique ability to tackle challenges with ingenuity. He loved to work with his hands and could fix nearly anything he set his mind to. His exuberant and fearless nature made him a joy to be around. Known for his loud presence, filled with pranks and jokes, he often lightened the mood in any gathering. His charm and generosity knew no bounds; he would give the shirt off his back and readily assist a stranger in need.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Eric's family was his proudest achievement. He enjoyed a loving marriage of 16 years to his devoted wife, Shanna Helm. He adored his four wonderful children: Drake Helm, Joshua Helm, Emma Grace Helm, and Elijah Helm.

Eric was also a proud grandfather to Emersyn and Kendall Helm, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his two sisters Kara Kinsey and Marci Reno and was a fun-loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Before his passing, Eric served his country honorably in the Army for seven years, as a tank operator.

His lively presence and unwavering support for those around him will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. While Richard and Nancy Helm, his parents, are no longer with us, Eric's legacy lives on through the love and memories he created with his family.

A visitation to honor and remember Eric will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and again on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. A Funeral Service celebrating Eric’s life will follow on Friday at 10:00 a.m., at the same location.
