Obituary of Paul Leroy Huff
Paul was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Emma Rauh and Paul Everly Huff. He died in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age 82 from a short battle with lymphoma.
He was a musician, blessed with abilities, talent, and a beautiful voice. He enjoyed singing in church and in Barbershop quartets and choruses. He loved performing, organizing and directing groups of singers, and most of all arranging musical scores. He was proud that his quartet, Rockies IV, was the Barbershop Harmony Society's 1993 International Seniors Champion. He sang in a number of quartets and was a member of the Barbershop Chorus for more than 53 years.
The Lord blessed him with a profession in which he was gifted and that he also loved. He worked as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for over 50 years, finally retiring at age 79. He never really retired though. He took the classes required to maintain his doctor license and continued to help friends and family with their pets. He was particularly skilled as an animal dentist, diagnostician, as well as a researcher. His clients adored him; he cared for them as much as he cared for their pets.
He was a Captain in the US Army for 4 years. He served in the Veterinary Service and in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He was awarded four medals including a bronze star for his service in Vietnam.
As a young adult, he raised and trained Brittany Spaniels as bird dogs and enjoyed hunting pheasant. For most of his life he was a skilled auto mechanic and liked the challenge of diagnosing and fixing car problems. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and grew a garden almost every year of his adult life. He and his wife loved to fish and made sure their children knew how to fish. He always had multiple projects going, whether it was installing a train horn in his truck, planting trees, or building a raised garden. Shortly before his death he had purchased a digital camera to begin taking landscape photographs. He loved life and was always learning and trying new things.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Eileen, as well as his 4 children, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren:
Laura Eileen Chan (Eugene): Hannah, Samuel, Naomi, Rebekah, and Sarah;
Jennifer Emily (Wells) Nelson (Shane): Emily Aiken (Deme), Meagan Dial (Jacob), Jakob, and Josiah;
Rebecca Jill Kuhn (Jim): Kimberlin Rice (Josiah), Esther, Liesl, Landon, and Elinor;
Paul Timothy Huff (Chelsea): Everly and Charlotte.
He is survived by his sister Phyllis McGuire of Shawnee, Kansas.
Of particular concern to him was his granddaughter, Kimberlin (Huff) Rice, who for over three years has battled metastatic breast cancer.
He put his trust in his Lord Jesus and was saved as a young man. His life modeled faith and trust in Lord Jesus, and he loved to sing God's praises.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Rustic Hills Baptist Church. Viewing will take place at 10:30am, the service at 11:00am, followed by his burial with military honors at 2:00pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the church that he loved: Rustic Hills Baptist Church, 1927 N. Murray Blvd, Colorado Springs CO 80915.
"In my Father's house are many mansions I go to prepare a place for you" John 14:2
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
John 3:16-17

Paul sang in the America the Beautiful Chorus with my Dad for years. They also sang in several quartets together. He was an amazing baritone and contributed so much to the art form. He also was a good friend to our family. He will be missed.

Paul was a friend, brother in Christ, served in the same church, brother in arms as a fellow army officer durning the same period, our veterinarian, and He an Judy were friends with Candy and I . I have only the best of memories and thoughts of Paul and hope in Christ to see him soon.
Remember the day the four of us went to Glenwood Springs and climbed up to Hanging Falls.
And the trip to Israel together, I will remember as long as I live.
