Paul Humes, age 67 of Gatesville, passed away on August 28, 2025.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Schmidt officiating.
Paul Matthew Humes was born in Clifton, Texas on October 28, 1957 to the late Richard and Mary Lou Humes. He was a lifelong resident of the Turnersville Community. He attended school in Turnersville, Gatesville and Jonesboro. In 1979 he met and married the love of his life, Pam Shaw. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Jackie and Leslie. He was a member of the Norse Lutheran Church but has been attending the First Methodist Church of Gatesville for many years. His love for farming started as a child helping his dad, and he continued to farm throughout his entire life. He was able to share his love and knowledge of farming with his grandson, Sean. He farmed and ranched for Pruitt Farms for 33 years. When he wasn’t farming and ranching, he loved driving his cattle truck. He and his wife enjoyed spending all of their free time with family and friends. He was the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren, whether it meant cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, traveling out of state for visits, or simply being present at family gatherings. He was very proud of them and their accomplishments. His love for his family knew no limits. He spent his last moments on the road home with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Lou Humes; father-in-law, Bobby Shaw; mother-in-law, Jean Shaw; and sister-in-law, Cindy Humes.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pam Humes; brother, Larry Humes; daughter, Jackie Williams and husband Toby; daughter, Leslie Mooney and husband Joby; grandchildren, Samantha Aguilar, Sean Aguilar, Cooper Mooney, Etta Mooney, and Ledger Mooney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
