Paul Jenkins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home with his family on Tuesday, March 4. Paul was a man of remarkable integrity, known for his boundless generosity, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for his family. Born on April 17, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, Paul was the son of the late Robert and Leona (Lampe) Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Scott.

Paul was a graduate of Ahrens Trade School, a Veteran of the United States Army and proud Kentucky Colonel. He was a dedicated tool and die maker by trade, working for more than 20 years as a machinist before working another 20 years in facilities management at Churchill Downs. His hands were always busy—whether at work or in his own yard, where he found great joy in tending to his garden and creating a welcoming space for those around him.

Paul believed in the value of hard work, but his true joy came from his family. He worked tirelessly to support his wife, children, and grandchildren, always ensuring they had everything they needed. His devotion as a father was matched only by his pride as a grandfather. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathy; his sons Jeff (Christy), Steven (Jeff Hellmueller); grandchildren Kendall and Mackenzie; and a cherished family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.

In addition to his love for family, Paul was an active and generous member of his community and was always the first to lend a hand, offering his time and resources to those in need. His caring nature and willingness to give back to others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Outside of his work and family life, Paul enjoyed watching and playing sports. Whether cheering from the sidelines or spending time outdoors, he found joy in both the competition and the camaraderie that sports provided. His love for sports was matched by his passion for spending quality time with the people he cherished.

Paul’s legacy is one of love, hard work, and generosity. He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, dedication, and the unwavering love he gave to his family and community.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Down Syndrome of Louisville, a cause that was very close to Paul's heart.

Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 12th at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Dr, Louisville, KY 40299 with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
