Paul A. Kozlowski, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the loving embrace of his family on March 30, 2025.
Born on September 19, 1954, to the late Edward and Arlene Kozlowski, Paul grew up in Holyoke, MA. He graduated from Holyoke High School and went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Paul worked as a project manager in the educational, commercial, and residential construction industries.
Paul met his wife, Trish (Dalton), in Amherst, and together they shared 42 years of marriage. He was blessed with a loving family, including his daughter, Dr. Emily Kozlowski (Dr. Chris D'Esposito) of Norfolk, VA, and son, Jake Kozlowski (Amanda Rader) of Rutland, MA.
A man who loved to laugh and have fun, Paul enjoyed spending time with people of all ages. He was a kind, loving, and patient man who cherished his family and meaningful relationships. A keen listener, Paul was genuinely interested in others and had a natural gift for mentoring, both personally and professionally. He volunteered with Straight Ahead Ministries, a faith-based organization dedicated to supporting justice-involved youth. With a deep love for God, Paul's life theme was to love God and love others. He served as a leader and servant in many Christian faith communities throughout his life.
An adventurer at heart, Paul loved being active-whether skiing, sailing, hiking, or enjoying time with friends and family. In retirement, he found great joy in life on the lake, surrounded by a beautiful community at the Woodlands. He enjoyed swimming, paddleboarding, and exploring the world, traveling to Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, and taking a memorable family trip to Ireland.
Paul is fondly remembered by his sisters, Jeanne Clow of Springfield, MA, and Ann Crooks of Chicopee, MA, and was predeceased by his brother Neil. He leaves his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ann and Rob Mackay of Berlin, MA; David and Lynn Dalton of Golden, CO; and John Dalton of Sydney, Australia. He will also be deeply missed by his cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. His devoted dog Finn was a beloved companion.
Although taken from us too soon, Paul was a courageous fighter against two types of lymphoma. He achieved remission three years ago but was later affected by the tick-borne Powassan virus, for which there is no treatment or cure.
Our family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the specialists at Massachusetts General Hospital, particularly Dr. Connor Johnson. Paul faced his final days with grace and dignity, and he was lovingly cared for at home by Juliana, Luci, Marina, Nea and Edilaine from Hope Health Care as well as Regina and Sheila of VNA Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, at 11:00 am at Miles Funeral Home in Holden, MA followed by a luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to Straight Ahead Ministries, 791 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
