Paul F. Lease

Paul F. "Pap" Lease, 94, of LaVale, entered eternal life with our Lord, family, and friends on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was eagerly awaiting to be reunited with his wife Flo, whom he had been married to for 67 years.
Pap was born on February 24, 1928 to the late Arlie and Byrle Lease in Fairgo, MD and attended Allegany High School. After high school, Pap joined the United States Marie Corps and served from 1946-1952. In 1946, Pap served as one of the few "China Marines," helping to liberate China.
Pap was employed by Hercules Power Co. at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory as an Engineer's Assistant for many years, and after retirement from ABL he worked for Potomac Valley TV.
Mr. Lease was actively involved in the US Marine Corps Mountainside League. He attended all funerals of fallen Marines in the local area to provide support to their families, and to extend a thank you for their sacrifice. He was also a member of Aerie #2883, F.O.E., Cresaptown and served as president and as the Mid-Atlantic Regional President.
Paul attended LaVale United Methodist Church, where he served as a "Friendly Greeter" for over 50 years.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Paul was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Paul Lease, and Jaime Lease; and his siblings, Buford Lease, Arlie Lease, Reuben Lease, Wilma Ware, Colleen Smith, and Darleen Lease.
Survivors include his children, Lt. Col. Paul F. Lease, USMC (Ret) and wife Anne, and Reba Burker and husband Bob; grandchildren, Tad Lease, Capt. Karlie Madden and husband Chuck, Joshua Albert, and Jaggar Albert and wife Misty; great-grandchildren, Haylee Renae Cooper, and Justin Renn Albert; and his sister, Donna Mallow.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Frankie Revell, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, where military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
