Paul Colby Martens, 83, formerly of Kearneysville, WV passed away from complications of dementia on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Jackie Withrow Hospital in Beckley, WV.
Born May 19, 1940 in Waukegan, IL, he was the son of the late Charles William Martens and Edith Mae Colby Martens.
He was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish of St. James the Greater in Charles Town, WV.
Paul was a veteran of the US Army and later retired from the United States Postal Service with over 25 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sarah Nicole DeStephanis.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Ann Martens, three daughters, Judy Tann (Jim), Sharon Tack, and Susan DeStephanis (Mark) and sisters, Ann L. Martens and Karen Williford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John Foryt, Paul Foryt, Joe Tann (Kelly) and Joshua DeStephanis and nephew, Petie Williford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV with Father Timothy Grassi as the Celebrant.
Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, WV Chapter, Morgantown Regional Office, 1299 Pineview Drive, Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505.
