We met at Spaulding Rehab. I grew to love Paul and considered him a great friend. I was first to be diagnosed with cancer and Paul was one of the first ones I told. Then when he was diagnosed and started treatment it was tough to see. Later on we stayed in touch by calls and texts. Paul was always the true optimist he taught me so many things about being an amputee. I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace my friend we love you

For those who were not able to attend and for the memories...
- What a beautiful day and lovely service it was, Pauls' Mom especially enjoyed the clergy that came and knew Paul as a child.
- There was a police escort including Mass State Troopers and Hanover PD. Nice.
- A procession that included Hanover Fire Department trucks and four fire fighters standing attention at the first intersection on the route to the cemetery. Wow. So heartfelt (gulp).
- A drive-by of Paul's home, his truck on front lawn with a bouquet of flowers on the hood, an American flag on the house and a Miller Lite beer (see obituary). And many neighbor families on their lawns with the men of the families holding their Miller Lite beers. Gave us chills (double gulp). Nice touch you guys.
- At graveside the U. S. military played 'Taps' (awesome) and folded and presented his American flag to his beautiful family. Thank you so much.
- Finally... a great gathering of family, friends, patients and delicious food at Lucca's in Rockland.
-- Just lovely. RIP Paul. We all LOVE YOU.

To all the MartinoFamily I'm thankful that we were neighbors for all those years on Freeland Street and although the years have lessened our contact on any regular basis the strength of that neighborhood bond of love and respect remains strong.
I remember Paul taking a group of us including Greig and myself up on camping expeditions overnight in the Blue Hills Reservation. I imagine my brother was there and probably a few others but Paul was senior troop leader on those occasions. May he remain very much with us for the years to come in our memories and thoughts
