Milton J. Ayers, age 87, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, surrounded by the family that he loved dearly. Born on February 4, 1938, in Augusta, Wisconsin, to Beryl and Howard Ayers, Mick grew up in a large farming community where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and humility. These values guided him throughout his life.
After graduating from Augusta High School in 1956, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960, before beginning a distinguished 30-year career with the Kenosha Police Department.
Rising through the ranks, he served as a patrolman, investigator, detective, lieutenant, and as Commander of the Kenosha County Controlled Substance Unit. He retired in 1993 as Lieutenant of the Investigation Division, remembered by his steady leadership and unwavering integrity.
He was educated at Gateway Technical Institute, Carthage College, and Northwestern University.
Mick's faith was the foundation of his life. As a devoted member of the Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in Sunrise, Arizona, he served as an usher and participated in the Outreach Ministry, sharing comfort and fellowship with residents of nursing homes and assisted living homes.
At the center of his life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannie Ayers, his children Rick (Terri) Ayers, Karen (Jose) Estrada, and John (Debbie) Ayers. His grandchildren, Melissa (Robert) Estrada, Sam, and Ariel, and his great-grandchildren, Annalicia, Marbeya, and Melanie. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Molstad, and Patsy (Hubert) Fielder. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Andres Estrada, and his siblings, Lucille, Thelma, Muriel, Hazel, Mary, Norman, Laurance, and Dale.
Mick will be remembered for his wit, his quiet strength, and his devotion to family. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at the Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church, 15820 W. Clearview Blvd. in Surprise, Arizona, on September 22nd, 2025, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona, or a charity of your choice.
Special thanks to those whose care brought him and his family comfort in his final days. Mick will be deeply missed, yet forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
