Paul Edwin Mathis, age 48, from Stone Mountain, Georgia died May 10, 2024.
Paul was born in Atlanta and graduated in 1993 from Redan High School, where he lettered in football and soccer. Paul then attended the University of Georgia, where he became a life-long Bulldog fan. He enjoyed all kinds of activities ranging from cheering loudly at Atlanta United Soccer to quiet, sunny days on the golf course. He loved his dogs. He spent his leisure time tumbling gemstones and fashioning jewelry of his own designs and sharing this interest with other friends. Paul liked to explore all types of nature from the beach to the mountains and all their various outdoor activities.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Mathis; brother, Michael and his wife, Michele; nephews, Walker and his fiance Hannah, Will, and Joe; as well as beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local YMCA to support youth team sports.

Just awful news. Paul was one of my heroes in high school. Incredible athlete, national honor society, nicest friend ever. He was my only roommate my senior year of college and I loved living with him and his dog, Millhouse. (Sorry for eating your food, Paulie.). Rest in peace, friend.
