Paul Francis McNamara, born in Detroit, September 22, 1939, beloved husband, father, stepfather, and Papa died Sunday, September 7, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. Paul was the cherished husband of 31 years to Cynthia, with whom he shared a partnership rooted in their Catholic faith, love of travel, cards, laughter, and deep companionship. He was the proud and loving father to Kathleen Wildwood (Michael McClennen), Karen Meier (Brian Passwater), Kristin Hull (Jason), and a devoted stepfather to Danielle Hayes (Stephen), and Casie Parlardg (Kenneth). His role as "Papa" was one he took very seriously. Whether passing out cash for report cards, taking trips to the ice cream parlor or cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events, these moments brought him great joy. He is survived by his grandchildren: Alyssa Hayes, Taylor Lantigua (Miguel), Garrett Hayes, Andrew Meier, Kevin Meier, Graham Parlardg and Reid Parlardg. He is also survived by 3 nephews and 2 nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Sarah (Gruber) McNamara, sisters Marilyn Cesnik and Lois O'Henley. A proud graduate of University of Detroit High School, Detroit College of Commerce (Bachelor of Arts in Accounting), and the Detroit College of Law (Juris Doctorate). Paul went on to practice law in Mt. Clemens for over 50 years. He was known for his integrity, kindness, and keen sense of humor. His career was not just a profession; it was a lifelong dedication to serving his community and advocating for others. Outside the courtroom, Paul was an avid golfer who found peace on the fairway. He served on the Salvation Army's Board of Directors where he often employed his grandchildren as bell ringers for the Red Kettle Drive at Christmas time. He was a lifelong music lover, with a special fondness for the Irish tune "McNamara's Band". Whether humming its lively melody or singing with friends and family, the song reflected Paul's joyful nature and pride in his heritage. Paul's life was defined by his quiet strength, generous heart, and the way he made others feel seen, loved, and valued. Whether offering a helping hand, buying snacks at the concession stand or simply being present, he left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher's Church, 1000 Michigan Avenue, Marysville, Michigan on September 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Christopher's Church or the wishes of the family. His memory will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories shared by family, friends and colleagues, and the love that binds them all together. I MET PAUL IN 1974 AS I STARTED MY PRACTICE IN MACOMB COUNTY. FROM THAT MEETING, I LOOKED UP TO HIM, ADMIRED HIS GRACIOUSNESS AND EXTENDED GUIDANCE TO ME WHEN I ASKED. HIS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON WITH ME AND I HOPE I CAN HONOR HIM IN MY EFFORTS TO MENTOR YOUNGER ATTORNEYS AS HE DID ME.
