Paul (Bunky) Arthur Moore, a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones June 5, 2025. He was married to his beloved wife, Jean, for 54 years whom he is survived by along with his loving children, Brian Moore and his partner Lesley Keegan, Paul Moore and his partner Caitlin Quigley; and his grandson, Christopher Moore.
Born November 2, 1937, Paul was the beloved son of Arthur Moore of Woburn and Louise Anderson, of Chelsea. Predeceased by his parents as well as a number of adoring aunts and uncles.
Paul has been a resident of Melrose for the last 50 years. He graduated from Billerica High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. After his time serving in the Navy he held many different positions. In 1967 he was set up on a blind date with the love of his life Jean Hallisey and they married June 13, 1971. During their marriage he started his long career with MassDOT where he worked until he retired.
Paul was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Navy and continued that service in the National Guard at Camp Curtis in Reading MA.
But it was time with his family that Paul Moore really loved, especially their summers in Humarock with Uncle Jack, Aunty Peggy, Uncle Paul and Auntie Bonnie when his children were growing up. Also, time in Bar Harbor and then later in life summers in North Conway with close friends Sally and Peter Vacca. He loved spending time outdoors gardening, kayaking, fishing and riding his bike, but it was time at home that held the most significance for him. Often referred to as Macgyver by his son Brian since he was seemingly able to fix anything. His son Paul remembers amazing care from his father during his recovery from a traumatic knee injury. Paul had a quiet kindness about him that everyone loved. His gentle demeanor and welcoming nature put everyone at ease. Though quiet and humble his sense of humor would have the family laughing for hours on end.
His passing leaves a great void, but his spirit endures in the laughter and lives of all who loved him.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St, Wakefield. Please go directly to the Church. Interment will be private.
