Paul Franklin Onks, 76, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Paul was born on March 9, 1947, in Washington County. He was a hardworking farmer and the proud owner of Onks Greenhouse.
Paul was known for his kind-hearted nature and willingness to help anyone in need. His love for plants was evident in his work at Onks Greenhouse, where he cultivated a beautiful array of flowers and plants. There you would meet his beloved dog, Ellie. Many in the community knew him from cattle sales, where his expertise and dedication were highly regarded.
To know Paul was to love him. He was a loving husband to Rhonda Onks and a cherished father to his stepchildren, Matthew (Brittany) Morelock, Seth (Cori) Morelock, and Olivia (Harry) Haztikostopolous. His grandchildren Berkley, Cooper, Kinsley, Paisley, Sophie, Mason, Bentley, and Colson brought immense joy to his life. Paul’s sister, Linda (Ted) Cope, and his nephews Aaron (Jessica) and Edwin (Teffany) Cope, along with great nephews and nieces, Mallory, Blake, Nathaniel, and Willa Kay, held a special place in his heart, along with Olivia Barnes.
In addition to his immediate family, Paul had close friendships with Barry (Susan), Joseph (Meredith), and Jacob (Taylor) Redman, Roy Crussell, Ryan Garst, Jimmy Shipley, John Abe Teague, David and Joseph Slonaker who shared countless memories and supported one another throughout the years.
Paul’s military associations included serving in the U.S. Army, where his dedication and commitment were evident in his service.
Paul’s passing is preceded by his mother, Marjorie and father, Paul. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved him.
Paul Franklin Onks will be remembered for his kind and compassionate spirit, his love for plants, and his dedication to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Nelson officiating. Please join us in remembering the life of Paul Franklin Onks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
