O'Connell Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - PrescottPaul David Paulson of Houlton, WI passed away at Regions Hospital on October 25, 2025, at the age of 85.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ethel Paulson, sister Alice Richert, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Richard Peper, son Hans Paulson.
Survived by son Erik and wife Gina and daughter-in-law Angie Paulson, many nieces, nephews and friends, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, former wives Maureen Paulson, Maria Alicia Arabbo and his close friend of 38 years Jahan Thompson.
Paul was born on January 11, 1940 in Baldwin, WI and grew up in New Richmond, WI. He joined the United States Air Force after high school and was stationed in Turkey. He completed jet engine mechanic training and worked on the first missile guidance rockets.
Paul attended UW-River Falls and graduated in 1968. He started his teaching career with St. Paul Public Schools in 1969. He taught Industrial Arts at Harding and Johnson High Schools and made a lasting impact on his students’ lives. He retired in 2001 after 32 years. His last three years, he was the Head of Safety and Security for the school district and implemented photo ID badging and secured entry program district wide.
Paul started Mann Valley Contracting in the early 1970’s as a design build custom homebuilder and continued building homes well into his retirement.
Paul will be most remembered for his kindness and generosity to his family, friends and students. Those who knew him well knew him for his gift of gab and sense of humor.
A celebration of life will be held at O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson WI on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 1- 4pm.
A private burial with full military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your local food shelf or the charity of your choice.
