Henry "Harry" Paulson of Clinton Township, whose humor and companionship brought decades of joy to family and friends, passed away on October 4, 2025. He was 96.

Harry was born on August 23, 1929 in Pontiac, Michigan. Harry was the eighth child of Mary and Harry Paulson, first-generation immigrants who traveled from England and Scotland to Canada, from Canada to West Virginia, and from West Virginia to Michigan's bustling auto-factories. Harry's young life took him even further, all the way to Japan, where he served as a medic in the US Army during the Korean War.

After his military service, he earned a teaching degree from Hillsdale College and then a Master of Education from Michigan State University. He spent decades teaching the fifth and sixth grades before unboxing a room of Commodore 64s and teaching a brand new subject-personal computing-and inspiring countless students to explore the nascent IT field.

He met the love of his life at a church revival, marrying the pianist, June Simms, on June 26,1959. They spent the next 55 years in the home they built on June's father's farm, raising two sons, gardening, and serving pie and coffee to their many friends. They taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Mount Clemens and were later faithful members of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Roseville for 20 years.

Harry loved to golf and, when the farm surrounding his home became Fern Hill Golf Club, he negotiated a handshake deal: Harry relocated his backyard shed to improve the first hole's sight lines and, in exchange, received free, unlimited golf for life.

Harry was a loving husband, proud father, and (according to his grandchildren) a passable Jenga player. Most of all, he was a faithful Christian whose lifelong joy was anchored in his relationship with Jesus Christ.

Harry is survived by his two sons, Dan Paulson (Peggy) of Plymouth Mich. and Dr. Ken Paulson (Wendi) of Tawas Mich. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Daniel Paulson (Wendy), Lauren Paulson (Matthew), Grant Paulson (Claire), Jessica Paulson (Jacob), and Dr. Garrett Paulson (Caroline), and four great-grandchildren, Wesley, Brooks, Lucy, and Elise.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife June and his eight siblings: Nancy Smith, Bill Paulson, Andrew Paulson, Florence "Flora" Nichols, Mary Mitchell, Henrietta "Cookie" Yungk, Bettie Church, and George Paulson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13 at 11 a.m. at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 36900 Schoenherr Rd., Sterling Heights, Michigan.
