Mark Moreno, age 27, of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at Corewell Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 2, 1998, in Newton, Massachusetts to Paul and Lisa (Carlucci) Moreno.
Mark graduated from Hillsdale College in 2021 with an applied math major. He was an MLB and NFL enthusiast, and comes from a long line of avid fans of the New York Yankees. He aspired to be a sportswriter, and was currently writing for District on Deck and for his own baseball blog, Total Bases. Mark enjoyed and excelled at playing cards and board games, and was in the process of fine-tuning his own space-based game as well as an expansion to his favorite game, Seven Wonders. He adored his cats. He had a ridiculously good memory, and was constantly computing stats and probabilities. His family is going to have to start doing more of this stuff themselves.
In addition to his loving parents, Paul and Lisa Moreno, Mark is survived by sisters Judy Moreno and Ruth Moreno, and brother Greg Moreno and his new wife, Sierra (Dilworth).
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Connie Moreno, Frank and Olga Carlucci, and great Aunt Yola DeSimone.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mark Moreno will be held Monday, October 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. David Reamsnyder and Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday from 10:30 AM until the Mass. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
Mark was an organ donor, and the family asks that you pray for the healing of his grateful recipients. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gift of Life Michigan.
