Paul Mark Poulson, age 77, of Sanford, Colorado, passed away peacefully in Alamosa, Colorado, on August 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on April 12, 1948, in Alamosa to Gene M. Poulson and Maxine Amelia Peterson Poulson. The fifth of seven children, Paul was raised in Sanford, where he developed a deep love for his family, faith, and community.

Paul attended school in Sanford and was known for both his academic excellence and athletic talent, particularly in basketball. After one year at Brigham Young University, he chose to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he touched many lives with his faith and dedication.

Following his mission, Paul served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He later lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, for several years, working at a local lumber yard before eventually returning to his hometown of Sanford.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paul served faithfully in many callings. He was a dedicated member of the Sanford Ward choir and ministered to homebound members of his congregation. He had a deep and abiding testimony of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation, which he shared often with those around him. Although his life was not an easy one, he always faced it with optimism and faith.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Maxine Poulson; his sister, Barbara Snow; nieces Caitlin Decker and Jordan Romero; and his nephew Chad Snow.

He is survived by his three brothers: Robert (Carol) Poulson of Albuquerque, NM; Donald (Jytte) Poulson of Mesa, AZ; and Allen (Linda) Poulson of Ogden, UT; two sisters: Sue (Ron) Decker of Montrose, CO; and Nancy (Mark) Romero of Sanford, CO; his brother-in-law, Fred Snow of Litchfield Park, AZ; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by two loving aunts, Bonnie Winters and Donna Peterson.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all who shared their love, friendship, and service throughout Paul's life.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sanford LDS church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, with a viewing prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow at the Sanford Cemetery.
