Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Paul Ray Hammon, Jr. will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Bro. Don Woodard officiating. The burial will follow at Tulip Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
Ray was born November 25, 1958, in Arcadia, Louisiana to Paul Ray Hammon, Sr. and Lawana Kilpatrick Johnson. He entered into rest on October 14, 2025, in Homer, Louisiana. Ray was a dedicated employee of Peterson Contractors. During his time off from work, Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching car racing, riding on his new side by side, and just genuinely enjoyed life. One of his greatest joys in life was his devotion to his church, and church family. Ray was more than just a deacon for Emmanuel Baptist Church, he was an encourager, a faithful servant, and had consistent presence with a smile. Another of his greatest joys was his family. Ray was a devoted, loyal family man, husband, father, brother, and friend. He enjoyed hanging out with his family and having cook outs together. Ray is going to be missed not only by his work family, his church family, but by his wife, sons, siblings, nieces, nephews, and all those that knew him.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Hammon, Sr. and Lawana Johnson, stepfather Waymon Johnson, parents-in-law Melvin (Peanut) and Beulah Dean, brother Rusty Johnson, and nephew Aaron Dean.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Libby Dean Hammon, sons Brandon and Kenneth Hammon, siblings John Hammon, Danny Hammon, Mark Hammon and wife Johnette, Weylin Johnson and wife Jeanette, Rhonda Hollenshead and husband Keith, and Angie Johnson, special family members Leland and Kathryn Cullins, and Johnathon Hammon, and by numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Honoring Ray as pallbearers will be Daniel Ledford, Travis Cullins, John Cullins, Mark Randel Ebarb, Steve Hollis, Zack Buckner, Derrick Goodman, Seth Alden, Wayne Johnson, and Josh Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Buzzy Buckner, his coworkers at Peterson Contractors, and the deacons of Emmauel Baptist Church.
