Paul J. Renaud, 75, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Bickford of Davenport, which had been his home since May, 2021.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Duane A. Lahti officiating.  Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday as well as 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.  Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed toward First Congregational Church, Moline, or the Renaud Scholarship c/o The Greater Poweshiek County Foundation.

Paul was born on April 1st ("no comment", he'd always say) 1948, to Don and Alice (Piper) Renaud. Paul grew up on a farm near Newburg, Iowa, and always had fond memories of life and work on the farm. He graduated from Grinnell High School and received a B.A. in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa. A member of Phi Mu Alpha, Paul enjoyed performing in many musical theater productions at UNI. During the summers of 1969 and 1970, Paul was a member of the chorus for productions at the MUNI opera in St. Louis. Following college graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, and served four years in Alameda, California. Upon completion of his service, he and wife Mary Pat (Sherman) moved to Davenport, where Paul taught vocal music at Wood Jr. High and North Scott HS.

After a move to Dubuque, Iowa, Paul began his 27 year career with Astra-Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. A change in territories necessitated a move back to the Quad-Cities in 1987 with wife Marcia (Hovel), whom he wed on August 9, 1986. Paul continued using his love of music as a soloist for many weddings and funerals in the Quad Cities, singing with Quad City Choral Arts, acting in Countryside Community Theater and Quad City Music Guild productions, and as the Chancel Choir Director for First Congregational Church in Moline, Illinois, for 19 years. During that time he organized two trips to Europe for the choir and friends, and was known for his Tom and Jerry's during the Renaud's annual Church choir Christmas party.

Following retirement from AZ, Paul was active in the Visiting Friends Ministry at FCC, and became a Road to Recovery driver for the American Cancer Society. Paul loved to travel, and he and Marcia visited Eastern Europe, Greece, England, Ireland, Scotland, Finland, and Costa Rica, as well as taking trips to Alaska, Nova Scotia, and the Canadian Rockies.

He is survived by his wife Marcia; sister, Joann (Dan) Becker; daughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Boyle and Katie (Nason) Holets; grandchildren, Garrett, Riley and Kieran Holets, and Mary and Clare Boyle; brother-in-law, Dennis Liston; and nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Liston; and infant daughter, Michelle.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Bickford Assisted Living, and St. Croix Hospice for their unwavering help and support, particularly in the last three months.
