Paul Roger Saunders Jr.

Paul Roger Saunders Jr., 68 of Roanoke, Virginia passed away February 7, 2026. Preceded in death by his parents Paul Roger Saunders Sr and Phyllis C. Saunders, also by his niece Jessika Dooley and nephews Robbie Shively and Joshua Roberts. Survived by his sister Marilyn Saunders (Grey), also nieces Robin MacFarland (Jeff) and Donna Flournoy (Ray), nephew Lee Dooley (Chris) as well as several great nieces and nephews and his special friend Kevin Smith.

Roger was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School and took College classes at Virginia Western Community, this is where he fell in love with theatre, he was in lots of plays and became a movie buff. He picked up a paintbrush at the age of 60 and took off with it. He was a trumpet player in high school as well as the band Smythe and Rucker and played the keyboard in the band Kryptokatz. Roger was such a comedian he made everyone laugh, loved road trips, eating out, cooking and was a very competitive pinball player he loved life.

A memorial service will be planned for Thursday February 12, 2026, at 6:00pm at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem Virginia
