Paul Everett Shoemake, Sr.

1926 - 2025

At the age of 99, Paul Everett Shoemake, Sr., a long-time resident of Lodi, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born on February 8, 1926, in Braggs, Oklahoma, Paul was the third of what would ultimately become a family of seven siblings. His parents, Jim and Nola, sisters, Irene and Mary Ruth, along with brothers Fred, Clarence, and Dale, all preceded him in death, while his sister Virginia Sue continues to reside in Oklahoma.
Paul was predeceased by his daughter, Meribeth, and his son, Paul Jr. A career military professional, Paul served honorably in the Navy, Air Force, and Army before retiring in 1979.
Following a brief courtship, Paul wed Barbara in May 1974. Their marriage lasted for 47 years until Barbara's passing in 2021. Together, Paul and Barbara were active volunteers at St. Ann's Church and with various local community organizations.
Paul is survived by his sister, Virginia Sue, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, sister-in-law Elaine Helton, stepchildren Debbie (Rowe) DeMonte and Harold Rowe, Jr., and grandchildren Taylor Rowe, Joseph Awe, Gabriella Awe, and Amy Chinn.
Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025, commencing at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, respectively, at Collins Family Funeral Home, located at 123 School St., Lodi, CA. Following the service, interment will occur at 2:45 PM at Cherokee Memorial Park, located at 14165 Beckman Rd., Lodi, CA. A reception will follow to honor Paul's life.
