Paul Bruce Slepp, 79, of Lancaster, SC died peacefully with his family by his side on October
10, 2022 in Columbia, SC. Affectionately known as "Dat" he was born in Bronx, NY to Daniel &
Dorothy (Bernstein) Slepp on December 8, 1943.
Paul attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY and grew up an avid NY Yankees fan.
He grew up loving the sport of baseball and was lucky to have one of his first jobs acting as a
'gopher/assistant' to the late great Phil Rizzuto, American Major League Baseball shortstop in
1958. After High School, Paul chose to serve his country by joining the US Air Force serving as
a Military Police Officer from 1961-1963.
After relocating to Austin, TX and Van Nuys, CA briefly, his journey brought him back to New
York, NY where he would be closer to his family and friends. It was after his return from Texas
that he met his beautiful and loving wife Vickie (Cortes). They shared 52 wonderful years of
marriage together.
For nearly two decades, Paul was an active sales performer with multiple high-profile
organizations and later became one of the top Regional Sales leaders within his organization. In
1982, Paul and Vickie relocated Dutchess County, NY where they both became business
owners providing office and printing supplies to the local area. Paul never knew a stranger,
being outgoing, so much so that people would assume he was the mayor of his town and very
involved in the community.
Paul loved his family, was committed to helping anyone in need and a protector to all that knew
him. He is survived by a loving family: wife, Vickie Slepp (77), daughter Gabrielle Mangum
Caraballo (Slepp) and his grandson, Christian Paul Mangum (23) of Charlotte, NC. Paul and
Christian had a very special bond, along with Christian's father, Chadwick Mitchell Mangum
(50). He is also survived by his daughter, Kerry S. Slepp (57) of Hollywood, FL; his son, Eric M.
Slepp (54) of Tampa, FL and his grandson Stephen Slepp (13). Loving brother-in-law to; Diana
Antonetty-Cuadrado (67) and German Cuadrado (65) and Diana's son, Eddie Antonetty (40) of
Bronx, NY, David Cortes (66) and his wife Cathy Cortes of Tom's River, NJ. Paul was a favorite
Uncle to his nieces and nephews; Joseph Slepp (58) of Greensboro, NC, Beth Slepp (60) of Los
Angeles, CA, Karen Eisen (61) of Glen Ridge, NJ, David Heiss (59) of Westport, CT and Stuart
Heiss (54) of New York, NY, Benjamin Slepp, Katelyn Slepp and Michelle Slepp of Franklin
Lakes, NJ.
