Paul Louis Smock Jr.

Paul Louis Smock, Jr., age 78 of Morganfield, KY went to his Heavenly Father Wednesday Dec 31, 2025 at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. Born on Sept 9, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Paul Smock and Bonnie Smock Kendall. He was a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church. His career in the coal industry began at the age of 18 as an assistant laboratory technician for the Pittsburg & Midway Coal Company in DeKoven, KY. Early on, Paul developed a deep passion for Mine Rescue, a commitment to safety and excellence, that defined his career. He dedicated 50 years to the Kentucky and Illinois coal industries before retiring from Alliance Coal in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Michelle Norman; and grandparents, James Fountain and Bertha Bealmear.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, Jan 6, 2026 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield, KY. Fr. Freddie Byrd will officiate.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, KY.
Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery in Morganfield.
